Unlock Your Future: Free State DESTEA Internship Programme 2025‑2027 – Apply Now and Shape Tomorrow

Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Internship Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is 24 October 2025.


What the Internship Programme Looks Like

  • Length: 24 months of hands‑on learning and real‑world work.
  • Role: Environmental Health Inspector – you’ll check things like water quality, food safety, and how safe a job site is for workers.
  • Why it matters: By keeping communities safe, you help protect people’s health and the environment.

Where You Can Work

  1. Fezile Dabi Service Centre – Parys
  2. Lejweleputswa Service Centre – Welkom
  3. Mangaung Service Centre – Thaba Nchu
  4. Thabo – Mofutsanyane Service Centre – Phuthaditjhaba

Pick the centre that’s closest to you or that you would like to visit.


How Much You’ll Earn

  • Monthly stipend: R7,860.38
    (This is paid to graduate interns who have finished their qualification.)

Who Can Apply?

You need a Level 6 qualification (or its equivalent) in one of these areas:

  • Environmental Health
  • Public Health
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Food & Safety Management

You can apply for any of the four internship slots – there are two positions available for each centre.
