24‑Month Internship Programme
The Eastern Cape Dept of Sport, Recreation, Arts & Culture is offering a 24‑month internship to help you gain hands‑on experience and learn new skills.
- You can start immediately after you finish school.
- The internship pays a consistent stipend for the full 24 months.
- You will work on real projects that help the department keep its records and digital systems up to date.
Post 1 – Technical Intern Archives Repository (Digitization)
Work Location: Head Office, Qonce
How many spots? 5
What we’re looking for
- Finished high‑school (National Senior Certificate).
- A National Diploma (level 6) in Archives & Records Management or a related subject.
- Knowing a bit about history is a plus.
What you’ll do
- Sort and organise old papers and files by placing them in folders, cabinets, and digital categories.
- Label every file clearly so anyone can find it later.
- Write short descriptions for each item, noting the date, author, and topic.
- Check for duplicates and decide which copies to keep or discard.
- Scan records into the computer, making sure the pictures are clear and the file size is not too big.
- Test the digital archive to ensure it works smoothly and everyone can find what they need.
Why it matters
Your work will help preserve the province’s history and make it easier for staff to find information quickly.
Post 2 – ICT Intern (Information Technology)
Work Location: Head Office, Qonce

What we’re looking for
- High‑school with a National Diploma in IT (or a related field such as Business Apps, Software Dev, or Computer Science).
- Good math and computer skills.

What you’ll do
- Support the department’s IT systems – help fix bugs and keep the website, intranet, and special software running.

- Train staff on how to use new apps.
- Analyze data – look at numbers, spot trends, and suggest better ways to work.
- Create and test small programs that help merge files or automate tasks.

You’ll keep the department’s digital tools up and running, making everyone’s work easier.
