Why Northern Coal is Offering a Bursary
Northern Coal (Pty) Ltd is a big coal‑mining company located just 13 km south of Carolina in Mpumalanga.
The company believes that a strong future for mining depends on good education and skills.
So, it is giving out bursaries for the 2026 school year to help students study engineering and other mining‑related subjects.
What the Bursary Covers
This bursary will help pay for:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
The goal is to give students the money they need while building the talent pool for South Africa’s mining industry.
Who Can Apply
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You need to be in your matric year or you must have finished matric.
- You must plan to study full‑time in one of the three engineering fields above.
- You have to be accepted or enrolled at a recognised South African university or college.
- Your grades in Math and Science must be at least 60 %.
- You should be motivated, organized, and eager to learn.
- You must have a valid fitness certificate that satisfies the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Northern Coal will give extra priority to students from nearby communities, but anybody can apply.
How the Selection Works
All applications will be checked and scored.
Short‑listed applicants will be contacted directly.
