The City of Mbombela is a local government in Mpumalanga Province that wants to give young people a chance to learn a real job. They’ve set up a 12‑month training course that turns you into a traffic officer – the person who keeps roads safe and helps drivers follow the rules. If you love helping others and want a steady paycheck, this could be your chance.
What You’ll Get
- Full training that follows the National Road Traffic Act, Act 93 of 1996.
- Hands‑on work on real traffic duties – checking licences, directing traffic, and teaching road safety.
- Stipend of R6,500 a month while you learn.
- No extra benefits – just the stipend for the 12 months.
There are 25 spots available for the programme.
Who Can Apply?
- You must have a Grade 12 Certificate (Matric).
- You need a valid driving licence.
- You must be under 35 years old.
- Have no criminal record or pending cases.
- Be physically fit and ready for some training.
- Be a South African citizen and resident of the City of Mbombela.
- Proof of residence (not older than 3 months) and your Ward Number are required.
What’s Involved
During the year you’ll learn:
- How to enforce traffic laws.
- How to give safety tips to drivers and motorists.
- How to manage traffic in busy areas and special events.
- How to keep a clear record of incidents and reports.
You’ll do both classroom learning and real‑world practice so you finish ready to work on the road.
