About the internship
The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) is a two‑year training job started to match the new financial rules that every municipality must follow. The program is split into clear, graduated assignments that build on what you learned in school.
By the end of the programme, you will be ready to work in fiscal roles across the city council. You’ll also get official certificates that show you have the right skills.
What you’ll get
- Two internships available this year
- Department: Finance Department
- Pay: R100 000 per year (about 8,000 rand a month)
- Duration: 24 months (two full years)
- Age limit: 21–35 years old
Who can apply
- Complete Grade 12
- Hold a 3‑year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in one of the following:
- Auditing
- Financial Accounting
- Risk Management (or a related field)
If you study in a different subject but want to learn finance, let us know – we consider applicants who are eager to learn.

- Curriculum Vitae (CV) – A clear list of your schooling, work experience and skills.
- Copies of certificates – Make sure the documents are signed and dated.
- Blue Crane Route Municipality application form – Download it, fill it out and sign it.
- Copy of your South African ID – Proof of identity.
- Cover letter – Tell us why you want this internship. Write a short paragraph that says “I am applying for the Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme.”
