What is ELIDZ?

ELIDZ (East London Industrial Development Zone) is a state‑owned company in the Eastern Cape that helps local businesses grow and creates jobs for young people. In 2025, ELIDZ is offering special internships that give university students hands‑on experience in real workplaces. These programs are part of South Africa’s Special Economic Zones strategy, which aims to bring investment, boost the economy, and give students the skills they need to succeed after graduation.

Internship Length

Internships run between 3 and 18 months, depending on what each university needs. You can choose a shorter or longer placement, so you can fit it around your studies or make the most of your time.

Where Can You Work?

  1. STP Laboratory (3 students)

    • What you’ll learn: Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry.
    • What you’ll do: Work in a science lab, support research projects, analyse samples, and help develop new tests.
  2. Human Capital Management (2 students)

    • What you’ll learn: Human Resources Management.
    • What you’ll do: Help HR staff with recruitment, employee engagement, and planning to make the workplace run smoothly.
