Mpumalanga Community Safety: Basic Traffic Officers Diploma Learnership 2026 – Apply Today

The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Basic Traffic Officers Diploma Learnership Programme 2026 vacancies. The closing date for applications is 14 November 2025.

What the Learnership Looks Like

If you get accepted, you’ll train at the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College in Mkhuhlu (Calcutta), inside the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. The program runs for 12 months and ends with a Diploma in Basic Traffic Officer, which is a Level 4 qualification in South Africa’s National Qualifications Framework.

During the year you will learn:

  • The rules of the road and how to enforce them
  • How to manage traffic at intersections, on highways and during special events
  • Basic first‑aid skills for road accidents
  • How to communicate clearly with drivers, commuters and law‑enforcement teams

You’ll get both classroom lessons and hands‑on practice behind a traffic light or in a traffic control van. When you finish, you’ll be ready to start a career helping keep our roads safe.

Who Can Apply

Everyone from all backgrounds is welcome – we’re looking for people of all races, genders and abilities. To be considered, you must meet the minimum requirements set by the Department. The application must be complete and accurate. If it’s missing details or contains false information, we’ll remove it from the shortlist.

Key points to keep in mind:

  • Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview
  • If you haven’t heard back within three months after the closing date, your application will be considered unsuccessful
  • The Department values representation, so we aim to have a balanced mix of people in the program
