The Mr Price Foundation’s Professional Retail Programme (PRP) is where future retail leaders get started. Backed by the JumpStart initiative, this 8‑month course is for young South Africans who want real experience in the retail world and the chance to grow into leadership roles.
What the Programme looks like
The PRP blends three learning styles:
- Online lessons – study at your own pace.
- Group projects – work with peers on real retail problems.
- Hands‑on work – spend time in South Africa’s biggest retail stores.
You’ll learn the inner workings of retail, sharpen your teamwork and leadership skills, and pick up technical know‑how that employers love.

Programme details
- Duration: 8 months
- Format: mix of theory, projects, and workplace learning
Who can apply?
- Age 18–33 years
- Must be a South African citizen
- Unemployed at the time of application
- Holds a diploma or degree in one of these areas:
- Finance / Accounting (BCom)
- Retail
- Fashion Design / Clothing Management
- Interior Design
- Graphic Design
- Logistics
- Or any other retail‑related qualification
