Old Mutual CGIC Learnership Programme 2026 – Graduate Internship Opportunities

Old Mutual Insure invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Commercial General Insurance Company (CGIC) Learnership Programme 2026 vacancies. The closing date for applications is 6 November 2025.


What is the CGIC Learnership?

Old Mutual Insure wants young people in South Africa who are currently not working to join a hands‑on training program that will give them real skills in the insurance world. The program runs for a full year and ends with a recognized qualification that can help you land a steady job in the industry.

You’ll learn about:

  • Customer care and claims handling – how to help people when they need support after an accident or loss
  • Underwriting and risk assessment – figuring out whether it’s safe to insure someone or something
  • Selling insurance and keeping clients happy – the art of telling people why they need coverage
  • Compliance and finance basics – keeping records and following laws
  • Communication, teamwork, and problem solving – working well with others and fixing issues on the spot

Who can join?

  • You must have a Matric certificate (with Maths or Maths literacy) that is valid as of 31 December 2024.
  • You need to know basic Mathematics or Maths Literacy.
  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • Age must be between 18 and 35.
  • You should not have been employed for more than 12 months.
  • You must hold a valid ID.
  • You must speak English.

Documents to send

  • A certified copy of your Matric certificate showing Maths or Maths Literacy.
  • Proof that you have no outstanding debts (credit clear).
  • Proof of no criminal record (crime clear).
  • A full academic transcript – if you are not currently studying, include all your past grades.
  • A certified copy of your ID.

Extra information

  • The programme especially looks for people from under‑represented groups, including those with disabilities.
  • The skills you’ll learn can help in many fields: data analysis, customer service, sales, and more.
  • Competencies you’ll build: teamwork, clear communication, focus on customers, accountability, handling complex situations, improving work processes, and planning.

Education level

You’ll finish with an NQF Level 5 certificate – a higher or occupational qualification that is recognised in South Africa.
