Who Should Apply?

  • You have a basic level 2 qualification or something equivalent.
  • Higher grades are a plus.
  • Good at speaking, reading and writing.
  • Basic knowledge of: water control, government water projects, safety rules, flood basics, and keeping records.

What Will You Do Every Day?

  • Open and close gates (sluices) based on the rules.
  • Fill out and keep track of water distribution sheets.
  • Fix small problems on gates, fences or other structures.
  • Clear blocked pipes and canals.
  • Remove algae and water plants.
  • Inspect the site each day.
  • Report cracks, leaks or any damage.
  • Clean grids, gauge plates and other parts.
  • Paint gates and make sure numbers are clear.
  • Patch small holes and maintain equipment.
  • Keep all tools and storage secure.
