About Lesedi Local Municipality
Lesedi is a local government area in Gauteng that runs the city of Heidelberg. Their Community Services Department does a lot of hands‑on work, such as:
- Teaching people about HIV, TB and healthy habits
- Supporting families that need extra help
- Talking to residents about new community projects
- Making sure everyone feels heard and respected
Because the team lives in the same neighborhoods as the people they help, the support is more effective and trustworthy.
What You’ll Do
1. Ward‑Based Educators (Field Workers) – 29 posts
These workers are the frontline of the program. You’ll visit homes, talk to residents, and:
- Explain HIV, TB, STIs and good health practices
- Help with testing and treatment programs
- Find children who need extra care
- Record data every day, week, and month
- Meet with local groups and leaders
Important: You must live in the ward you will serve and write your ward number on the application.
2. Ward‑Based Educators (Supervisors) – 5 posts
If you like leading a team, this role is for you. You’ll earn R4,300 a month and help:
- Guide field workers and keep them on track
- Plan and check out activities in the ward
- Make sure reports are accurate
- Talk with city coordinators and other staff
A Grade 12 diploma is required; anything beyond that is a bonus.
3. Ward‑Based Data Capturer – 1 post
If numbers and computers are your thing, this job pays R4,500 a month. You’ll:
- Collect, check and report data for the program
- Write clear reports for supervisors and planners
- Help with monitoring and evaluation
- Work closely with field teams
You need a Grade 12 diploma and good computer skills (MS Office).

- Minimum one year of experience in:
- Public service, community projects or an NGO
- Good writing and speaking skills
