Valterra Platinum invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their 2026 Community Bursary programme. The closing date for applications is 1 February 2026 at 23:59.
Valterra Platinum wants to help students from its host communities get the education they deserve. If you live in one of the mining and smelter towns where Valterra Platinum works, and you’re ready for your first university degree, this bursary could cover almost everything you need to finish your studies.
What’s Covered by the Bursary?
- Tuition fees – Every semester’s cost is paid.
- Accommodation – Your housing is taken care of.
- Allowance – A monthly sum that can help with food, books or travel. The amount is decided by your needs and the Trust’s approval.
The bursary lasts for the full time you need to finish a three‑year degree. It will be renewed each year only if you pass your exams and keep a good attendance record.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible you must meet every single point below. Missing one could mean your application is rejected.
- South African citizen.
- Resident of a Valterra Platinum host community listed below.
- Completed or currently studying in that community.
- Matric (high‑school final exam) finished in 2024 or 2025.
- Age between 18 and 25.
- Accepted into a first undergraduate degree at NQF Level 6 or 7.
- Degree must be fully accredited by SAQA.
- Programme must be 3 years full‑time and finish no later than December 2028.
- Registered at a recognised higher‑education institution (public or private).
- Not the child of a Valterra Platinum employee.
Priority will be given to students who come from:
- Orphan or vulnerable households.
- Unemployed families.
- Child‑headed households.
Provide documents that prove you belong to one of these groups if you want the extra priority.

Proof of Residence must be stamped and signed by a local municipality or traditional council and must not be older than three months.
