Collect Your July SASSA Grants from Next Week – Payment Dates Confirmed

Pretoria, South Africa – Good news for grant beneficiaries! SASSA has officially confirmed that you can collect your July 2025 grants from next week, starting with older persons’ grants on Wednesday, 2 July 2025.
Grant payments for July will be rolled out over three days. If you receive any type of social grant, make sure you take note of the specific collection day:
- Old Age Grant: 2 July 2025
- Disability Grant: 3 July 2025
- Child Support Grant: 4 July 2025
SASSA reminds everyone not to rush to ATMs or pay points too early, especially not before the official date. Arriving hours before the new day can cause delays in your payment reflecting.
July Grant Increases and Budget Insights
SASSA has also highlighted that all grants, except the SRD, received an increase in April 2025. The Old Age, Disability, and Care Dependency Grants went up by R130, now sitting at R2315. The Child Support Grant increased by R30, now R560 monthly.
These increases reflect government’s response to the rising cost of living. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, in his 2025 Budget Speech, noted that the number of beneficiaries is expected to reach 19 million in 2025/26. That number could rise to 19.3 million by 2027/28, mainly due to an ageing population.
The total allocation for social grants in the current financial year stands at a staggering R284.7 billion, with R8.2 billion added to offset inflation and living costs.
SRD Grant: Future Still Under Review
While the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant did not see an increase, its role is under major review. According to the Finance Minister, the SRD is being looked at as a foundation for a more sustainable form of income for the unemployed.
By September 2025, the review of labour market programmes should be complete. The findings will help define the future structure of the SRD and similar support grants.
The SRD currently stands at R370 per person per month, and an additional R35.2 billion has been allocated to ensure the extension of this payment — including all related admin costs.
Your Responsibility as a Beneficiary
If you’re one of the millions who rely on SASSA grants, the agency urges you to collect your payment only on the date aligned with your grant type. Early arrivals don’t speed up the process and may lead to frustration or delays.
To avoid inconvenience, always check your grant type’s exact payment date before heading out.
For now, SASSA continues to serve as a critical support system for millions of South Africans — ensuring help reaches those who need it most.
