Limpopo Department of Health has opened one of the biggest EPWP hiring drives in the province. Over 1,700 temporary jobs are now available in hospitals, clinics and other health facilities. The deadline is 11 June 2026, so you need to act fast.
What the opportunity is
The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) is a government scheme that gives unemployed South Africans a chance to earn a stipend while gaining work experience. This round will run until 31 March 2027 and covers a wide range of roles, from general workers to admin clerks.

Available positions
1. EPWP General Workers – Food Services (428 posts)
- Stipend: R4,121.76 per month
- Requirements: Matric, N6 in Catering & Hospitality, computer literacy, basic food‑safety knowledge
- Duties: Prepare patient meals, serve wards, clean kitchen equipment, handle dishwashing, pack and label meals, keep food safety standards
- Locations: All five districts – Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Vhembe and Waterberg – including Mankweng, Pietersburg, Tshilidzini, Donald Fraser, Mokopane and Ellisras hospitals.
2. Infrastructure EPWP General Workers (3 posts)
- Stipend: R4,121.76 per month
- Requirements: Minimum ABET qualification, experience with hand or power tools, exposure to infrastructure maintenance (reference letter helpful)
- Duties: General maintenance, repairs, equipment servicing, fault reporting, handyman tasks
- Locations: FH Odendaal Hospital and Ellisras Hospital.
3. Water‑Softening Plant Operators (7 posts)
- Stipend: R4,121.76 per month
- Requirements: Matric, exposure to plumbing or water‑softening plants, relevant certificates advantageous, basic technical knowledge, OHS awareness
- Duties: Operate plants, conduct maintenance checks, service equipment, keep records, report faults
- Locations: Helene Franz, Lebowakgomo, Zebediela, Dilokong, Maphutha L Malatji and Thabazimbi hospitals.
4. EPWP Admin Clerk – Asset Management (82 posts)
- Stipend: R4,121.76 per month
- Requirements: Matric, N6 in Supply Chain, Financial, Logistics, Purchasing, Commerce, or Public Management, computer literate, knowledge of PFMA/Treasury regs useful
- Duties: Maintain asset register, verify assets, manage inventory, track movements, record disposals, perform monthly reconciliations
- Locations: Provincial office, district offices, hospitals, EMS services, nursing campuses and the pharmaceutical depot across all five districts.
5. EPWP General Workers (1 244 posts)
- Stipend: R4,121.76 per month
- Requirements: Minimum ABET qualification, ability to do physically demanding work, willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, familiarity with hospital environments helpful
- Potential duties: Porter work, laundry handling, mortuary assistance, ward cleaning, general cleaning and waste disposal
- Locations: Hundreds of clinics, community health centres, hospitals, nursing campuses and district offices in Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Vhembe and Waterberg districts.
