KZN Dept of Education Unemployed Educators Database Registration Guide
There is a new chance for qualified teachers who are out of work in KwaZulu‑Natal, and the department is opening its recruitment database this month. Acting now can put you in front of schools that need teachers quickly. South African SETA also highlights the importance of registering promptly.
What is the KwaZulu‑Natal Qualified Unemployed Educators Recruitment Database?
The KwaZulu‑Natal Department of Education keeps a single online list of teachers who are unemployed but have the right qualifications. When a school has a vacancy, officials search this list first. Being on the list does not guarantee a job, but it makes you visible to many schools at once.
Who can register?
You may apply if you meet all of the following:
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification (Diploma in Education, B.Ed., PGCE, etc.)
- Are registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) and have a valid certificate
- Are a South African citizen or permanent resident
- Can prove you are currently unemployed
- Have a clean criminal record
- Can teach subjects offered in public schools
Teachers in high‑need subjects such as Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Technical subjects, Accounting, Agricultural Sciences, IT, Special Needs Education and Foundation Phase are especially welcomed, but all specialisations may apply.
What do you gain?
- Your details are stored in a provincial pool that schools access for vacancies.
- You may be considered for both temporary and permanent posts across KwaZulu‑Natal.
- Matching is done by subject, location and qualification, which speeds up the hiring process.
- Access to opportunities that might not be advertised publicly.
