Sasol Welding Apprenticeship 2026 – Apply by 17 July – Eligibility

If you want a solid engineering career right now, the Sasol Welding Apprenticeship Programme could be the answer. The deadline is fast approaching, so act now before 17 July 2026.

What the programme offers

Sasol, together with Plant Design and Project Services (PDPS), is running a Welding Apprenticeship for young South Africans. The four‑year apprenticeship gives you hands‑on experience in welding, fabrication and related engineering work. Successful participants often move into permanent roles within Sasol’s energy and chemical operations.

Who can apply

You must live in one of the following areas:

  • Govan Mbeki Municipality
  • Ekandustria Region 7
  • City of Tshwane
  • Dark City
  • Ekangala
  • Rethabiseng
  • Zithobeni

You also need to meet at least one of the qualification routes below.

Option 1 – Grade 12 (Matric)

  • English (reading and writing)
  • Pure Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted)
  • Physical Science
  • Engineering Graphic Design – advantage
  • Welding/Platers Theory – advantage

Option 2 – N3 Engineering qualification

  • English
  • Engineering Mathematics N3
  • Engineering Science N3
  • Trade‑related Theory N3 – advantage

Option 3 – NCV Level 4

  • English or First Additional Language (NCV Level 4)
  • Mathematics (Pure) – Level 4
  • Engineering Science – Level 4
  • Engineering Processes – Level 4
  • Professional Engineering Practice – Level 4
  • Applied Engineering Technology – Level 4
  • Trade‑related Theory – compulsory
  • Welding/Platers Theory

What you will gain

How to apply – step by step

  1. Gather certified copies of the following documents:
    • Updated CV
    • South African ID
    • Qualification certificates
    • Matric or NCV result slips
    • Driver’s licence (if you have one)
    • Recent municipal water or electricity bill showing your address
    • If the bill is not in your name: an affidavit from you, an affidavit from the landlord, and a SAPS‑certified statement of residence
    • SARS confirmation letter with the same address
    • Bank statement showing the same address
  2. Compose an email to welderapprentices2026@pdps.co.za. Use “2026 Welding Apprenticeship” as the subject line and reference number.
  3. Attach all certified documents and your CV.
  4. Send the email well before 17 July 2026 to avoid last‑minute technical problems.
