Msobo Coal Learnership 2026 – Surface Rock Breaking – Closes 30Nov
Need a way to turn your Matric certificate into a real start in South Africa’s mining sector? Opportunities like this don’t appear every day, and the deadline is fast approaching. If you want hands‑on experience before you even think about a full‑time job, read on now.
What the opportunity is
Msobo Coal (Pty) Ltd is advertising its Non‑Artisan Learnership Programme 2026. The programme offers two separate learning streams:
- Surface Rock Breaking – for people who are not yet employed by the company.
- Mineral Processing – for current permanent employees who want to develop new skills.
The learnership is based at Msobo Coal’s operations about 20 km north of Ermelo, Mpumalanga. It is designed to give participants practical mining knowledge and a chance to earn a recognised qualification on the National Qualifications Framework.
Who can apply
External (Surface Rock Breaking) applicants
- South African citizen
- Aged 18 – 35 years
- Minimum Grade 12/Matric or an equivalent qualification
- Proof of residence – a water‑and‑lights bill or a signed affidavit
- Ability to obtain a valid mining fitness certificate (medical) once shortlisted
Internal (Mineral Processing) applicants
- Must be a permanent employee of Msobo Coal
- No outstanding disciplinary record
- At least a Grade 12/Matric qualification
- Will also need to meet the mining fitness requirement
Both streams require a willingness to learn, good communication skills and a strong safety mindset.
What you gain
- Practical experience in surface mining or mineral‑processing operations.
- Training that leads to an NQF‑registered qualification (exact level to be confirmed by the company).
- Exposure to mining safety standards and on‑the‑job procedures.
- Opportunity to build a network within the mining industry.
- Potential for future employment – although a learnership does not guarantee a job.
How to apply – step by step
- Check eligibility – decide which stream (external or internal) matches your situation.
- Gather documents – updated CV, certified copies of Matric (or equivalent), proof of residence (if applying externally), and a copy of your ID.
- Write a clear email subject – e.g. “Application: Surface Rock Breaking Learnership 2026 – Your Name”.
- Send the email – attach all documents and email them to Recruitment@msobo.co.za.
- Submit before the deadline – all applications must be received by 30 November 2026. Aim to send yours a few days early.
- Wait for short‑listing – shortlisted candidates will be contacted for assessments and a medical fitness check.
Tips to improve your chances
- Proof of residence is essential. If you do not have a utility bill, prepare a signed affidavit that clearly states your address.
- Tailor your CV to highlight any school projects, volunteer work or part‑time jobs that show teamwork, problem‑solving or safety awareness.
- Keep your documents legible and properly certified – blurry scans can disqualify you.
- Do not pay anyone to guarantee a placement. All legitimate steps are outlined in the official email invitation.
- If you have extra qualifications (e.g. certificates in engineering, IT or safety), list them even though they are not required.
Next steps
If you meet the criteria, start preparing your application today. Use the official email address provided, and double‑check that you have included every required attachment.
