The Gauteng College of Nursing Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Student Nurse Intake 2026 Vacancies. The closing date for applications is October 10, 2025.


If you love helping people and want a job that makes a real difference, the Gauteng College of Nursing (GCON) is looking for students to start a Diploma in Nursing in 2026. You can study at one of four campuses: Ann Latsky, Chris Hani Baragwanath, SG Lourens, or Bonalesedi.

Who can apply?

  • South African citizen living in Gauteng
  • You must have one of these school certificates or be in Grade 12:
    • Senior Certificate
    • National Senior Certificate
    • National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health)

If you have a National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health), you need:

  • 50 % in core subjects (English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation)
  • 60 % in vocational courses (e.g., SA Healthcare System, Public Health, Human Body & Mind)

Current Grade 12 students must already meet the NSC criteria from their Grade 11 results.

  1. Sign an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health.
  2. Attend classes at your chosen campus.
  3. Take part in Work Integrated Learning (WIL). That means working real hours—weekends, nights, and public holidays—at local hospitals and clinics in Gauteng.
