City of Johannesburg Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Internship Training Programmes.

Internship 1 – Energy
Pay: R10 109.86 per month (basic salary, no extra benefits)
Where: Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein
What you’ll do
Help the Energy Unit with technical and office tasks. You’ll learn how electricity and power projects run in the city.
Who should apply
- Finished Grade 12 (Matric) and have a degree in one of the following fields:
- Bachelor of Science (BSC)
- Engineering or Construction Project Management
- Energy Studies
- Must be a fresh graduate who hasn’t done an internship before.
- Only residents of the City of Johannesburg can apply.
Internship 2 – Finance Officer
Pay: R10 109.86 per month (basic salary, no extra benefits)
What you’ll do
Support the Environment, Infrastructure and Service Department by:
- Keeping track of purchases and services
- Recording financial entries
- Creating reports that meet national rules
Who should apply
- Finished Grade 12 (Matric) and hold a three‑year bachelor’s degree or a National Diploma (NQF level 7) in Accounting, Management Accounting, Finance, or a similar field.
- Fresh graduate who has not already done an internship.
- Only City of Johannesburg residents.
Internship 3 – Administration Officer
Pay: R10 109.86 per month (basic salary, no extra benefits)
Where: Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein
What you’ll do
Assist the Employment Equity Health & Safety Officer by:
- Making sure the office follows safety rules
- Helping the work‑equity plan run smoothly
- Keeping records for the organization
Who should apply
- Finished Grade 12 (Matric) and hold a National Diploma in Office Administration or a related diploma (NQF level 6).
- Fresh graduate who hasn’t yet done an internship.
- Only City of Johannesburg residents.
Internship 4 – Office Administration
Pay: R10 109.86 per month (basic salary, no extra benefits)
Where: Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein
What you’ll do
Work with the Director of Finance to keep the office running efficiently. Tasks include scheduling, filing, and data entry.
Who should apply
- Finished Grade 12 (Matric) and hold a Bachelor’s degree or a National Diploma in Office Administration (NQF level 7).
- Fresh graduate who has not previously done an internship.
- Only City of Johannesburg residents.
Internship 5 – Water Management
Pay: R10 109.86 per month (basic salary, no extra benefits)
Where: Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein
What you’ll do
Support the Water Management and Biodiversity Directorate. You’ll help with:
- Water service rules
- Catchment and water‑quality projects
- Planning open spaces around the city
Who should apply
- Finished Grade 12 (Matric) and hold a degree in Town and Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geoscience, or Geohydrology (NQF level 7).
- Fresh graduate with no prior internship experience.
- Only City of Johannesburg residents.
