What Is the Armed Environmental Monitors Role?
SANParks (South African National Parks) runs a big program called the EPWP – the Expanded Public Works Programme – to give people jobs while protecting nature. The Armed Environmental Monitors team helps keep the parks safe, stops poachers, and keeps the environment healthy. What Do They Do?
- Watch Over the Parks: Keep an eye on animals, track wildlife, and collect useful information for research papers.
- Patrol for Poachers: Join law‑enforcement teams to stop illegal hunting.
- Care for Fences & Fires: Fix predator fences and help manage fires that could damage the land.
- Clean Up & Rebuild: Remove unwanted plants or animals and help restore the land.
- Help the Team: Safely carry out routine tasks, keep track of equipment, and make sure the whole team stays safe.
Who Should Apply?
You only need to meet a few simple requirements:

Physical Fitness | You need to be able to walk long distances and handle outdoor work. |

Flexibility | Willing to work odd hours or extra shifts as needed. |
These positions pay R311 a day and are fixed‑term contracts up to the end of March 2026, with the chance to renew if both sides agree.
