City of Joburg Bursary Programme for 2026 Academic Year (X200 Bursaries)

The City of Joburg invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Bursary Programme vacancies.
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2025.

What Is the Bursary Programme?

The City of Joburg has created a special scholarship‑style offer that lets 200 South African students who live in Johannesburg move straight into university.
You can study a full‑time undergraduate degree in a wide range of subjects – from engineering and medicine to marketing and law. The aim is to help the city grow smart, skilled people who can take care of our community for years to come.

Who Can Apply?

  • Age – 15‑24 years old (check your exact age limit on the application form).
  • Residency – You must live in Johannesburg all the time. You’ll need proof such as a water or electricity bill that shows your street address.
  • School History – Bring your latest grade‑report or high‑school record.
  • Parent Income – Include your parents’ latest income statements or an affidavit if they’re not available.
  • Make Your Own University Signup – The city only pays for your tuition; you’re still responsible for getting accepted into a university you like.

What Degrees Are Covered?

You can choose any of the following full‑time undergraduate programmes. The difference between “fields” and “subjects” is mainly how the university calls them – in short, you’ll get a degree that ends in “B.Sc.,” “B.A.,” “B.Eng.,” etc.
