
The City of Johannesburg invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for their Registry & Archiving Internship Programme. The closing date for applications is 29 October 2025.
What Is the Registry & Archiving Internship?
The internship is a paid placement that lets you learn how city officials keep track of records and documents. You’ll work from the Thuso House, 61 Jorissen Street in Braamfontein, and earn a stipend of R3 500 per month. Although it comes with no extra benefits, the hands‑on experience you gain is worth its own weight in gold.
Who Can Join?

What You’ll Do
This internship gives practical support to the Records Department. Your main tasks include:
- Admin support – Help keep the department running smoothly.
- Document handling – Receive paper files and send them to the right people.
- Scanning & filing – Put documents into the electronic system and keep them organized.
- Retrieval – Find documents when someone needs them.
- Disposal – Delete files that are no longer needed, following city rules.
- General office chores – Keep the office tidy and help with other fun tasks.
You’ll learn how a big city manages its paperwork and records, a skill that’s useful in many jobs—from law firms to banks.
