DHET Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their 2025‑2027 Internship Programme vacancies.
The closing date for applications is 28 November 2025 at 14:00.

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is looking for South African graduates who are not currently working to join a special 24‑month internship program. This internship gives real job experience in important administrative and legal roles inside the higher‑education world.

About the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)

Internship Posts & What They Mean

1. Legal Services Intern (Ref 12/2025)

You need one of these:

  • A 3‑year diploma in Paralegal Studies
  • Or a 4‑year degree in Law or Legal Studies

You’ll learn to help with legal paperwork, support lawyers, check compliance rules, and understand how public‑sector law works. This is a great start if you want a career in law or government.

2. College Council Secretariat Intern (2 posts – Ref LEPTVET 11/2025)

You need a 3‑year diploma (Level 6) in one of these fields:

  • Public Management
  • Public Administration
  • Office Management / Administration
  • Office Management and Technology

You’ll do things like keep meeting minutes, organise council meetings, help with reports, and support office leaders. This role is perfect if you like organising, writing, and working behind the scenes in a school or college.

    Yes – you’ll get a stipend that follows DHET’s payment rules.
