The Eastern Cape Department of Health invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Data Capturer Vacancies. The closing date for applications is the 7 November 2025.
What is a Data Capturer?
A Data Capturer is the person who puts information into a computer system. They make sure all the data is correct, complete and ready to be used by doctors, nurses and managers. Think of it as keeping a digital notebook that helps the health department run smoothly.
Who can apply?
- School qualification – You need a National Senior Certificate (NSC).
- No previous job required – The department will teach you everything you need to know.
- Basic computer skills – Knowing how to use simple office programs and to write numbers in a spreadsheet.

- Positive attitude – Be enthusiastic, reliable and ready to take on new tasks.

What will you do?
- Enter & update data – You’ll type patient and health‑service information into the department’s computer system.
- Check data quality – Make sure numbers add up and that nothing is missing.
- Create reports – Produce spreadsheets and statistics on a regular basis.
- Track paperwork – Record documents that come in and make sure they get to the right place.
- Maintain the database – Keep the system tidy and up‑to‑date.
- Help out with records – Move information from paper files to digital files.

How long is the job?
- Contract length: 5 months
- Salary: R193 359 – R227 766 per year (Level 04)
The salary is paid monthly. 5‑month contracts can lead to longer stays if you do a good job.
