ETDP Grants Unemployed Youth a Fast Track: 2025/26 Coded Welding Skills Programme

Ehlanzeni TVET College & ETDP SETA Mpumalanga Invite Qualified Applicants to Apply for the Coded Welding Skills Programme. The closing date for applications is the 24 October 2025.


What is the Coded Welding Skills Programme?

This programme is a hands‑on training course that teaches young people how to become professional coded welders.

  • Hands‑on practice with real welding tools.
  • Theory lessons that explain the science behind welding.
  • You’ll learn to join metal parts safely and with the exact quality required by many industries.

How the Training Works

The full programme lasts six months and includes both classroom time and hands‑on labs.


Do you qualify?

To join, you need to meet the following:

  1. School Grade

    • NCV Level 3/4 in Mechanical Engineering or Welding or
    • Grade 11/12 with a pass in Mathematics and Physical Science.
  2. Experience

    • If you’ve already tried welding, that’s a plus.
  3. Physical Ability

    • Good hand‑eye coordination and a healthy body is important because welding can be tough on your hands and vision.
  4. No Other Courses

    • You can’t be enrolled in another training program at the same time.
  5. Extra Advantage

    • NCV Level 4/5 or Grade 12 with good grades gives you a better chance.

If you’re a bit older than 15, you still qualify – just make sure you have the right grades or test scores.

  • Stipend – R3,000.00 per month while you learn.

What Documents Do You Need?

Send copies (not older than six months) of:

  1. Identity document (ID).
  2. Grade 11/12 results showing Mathematics and Physical Science.
  3. Or the NCV certificate for Mechanical Engineering or Welding.

All documents must be certified and recent.
