EThekwini Municipality Artisan Development Opportunities 2026 | Apply Today

eThekwini Municipality Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Artisan Development Programme 2026 vacancies. The closing date for applications is 14 November 2025.

What Is the Artisan Development Programme?

The city of eThekwini has rolled out a new training plan aimed at giving young people who are not working a chance to learn real‑world skills and earn a formal trade certification. If you’re between 18 and 35, live in the area, and have never done an apprenticeship before, this could be the perfect step for you.

The programme is a mix of hands‑on work at city sites and classroom lessons at recognised training schools. It takes up to three years, depending on the trade you choose, and ends with a national trade test that shows you are ready to work in the industry.

Trades You Can Learn

  1. Boilermaker & Welder – learn to build and repair metal structures.

  5. Diesel Mechanic – troubleshoot and repair diesel engines.

These jobs help keep the city running and give you a steady income once you finish.
