What is the FEM Youth Employment Service (YES) Internship Programme?
Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (FEM) is launching the 2026 Youth Employment Service (YES) Internship Programme.
It’s a national partnership between the South‑African government and private companies that gives young people a chance to learn real‑world skills, work with professionals, and build a career path.
Internship Areas & What You’ll Do

| 1 | Claims | Diploma or degree in Insurance, Law, or Risk Management | Help process insurance claims, check documents, talk with claimants, and do office support tasks |
| 2 | Health & Safety | Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science | Aid in workplace checks, support safety audits, write reports, and spread safety awareness |
| 3 | Human Resources (HR) | Diploma or degree in HR Management or Industrial Psychology | Assist with hiring, keep employee files, help plan training, and handle HR paperwork |
| 4 | Information Technology (IT) | Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field | Provide tech support, help upgrade systems, fix problems, and back digital projects |
| 5 | Marketing | Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations | Work on campaigns, manage social media, create content, build brand messages, and research markets |
| 6 | Pensions | Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting or Actuarial Science | Support pension fund work, prepare financial statements, and answer pension questions |
| 7 | Product Development | Degree in Business Management, Economics or Actuarial Science | Do research, help design new products, and support innovation teams |
| 8 | Rehabilitation (Rehab) | Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or similar health science | Plan rehab programmes, support patient management, and give admin help to therapists |
| 9 | Risk & Compliance | Diploma or degree in Law, Risk Management or Compliance Studies | Assist with compliance checks, draft risk reports, and keep regulations on track |
| 10 | Underwriting | Diploma or degree in Insurance, Finance or Risk Management | Help evaluate insurance applications, support policy paperwork, and learn underwriting |
Minimum Requirements
To join the FEM YES Internship Programme you must:
- Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
- Hold a Matric certificate
- Be 18 to 35 years old
- Be unemployed at the time of applying
- Belong to a designated group that the country aims to help
