Launch Your Pharmacy Career: Join the Gauteng Department of Health Internship Programme 2026/2027!

Gauteng Department of Health Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Pharmacy Internship Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is the 31 October 2025.
What This Internship Is About
The Pharmacy Internship Programme is a full‑time, 12‑month learning experience that follows the rules of the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). It gives new pharmacy graduates hands‑on work at some of Gauteng’s biggest public hospitals, so they can learn every part of running a pharmacy.
- Work in in‑patient areas – help doctors and nurses give the right medicines to patients in the wards.
- Shift to out‑patient pharmacies – fill prescriptions, explain medicines to patients and give health advice.
- Gain skills in bulk compounding – mix medicines in large quantities and put them into patient‑ready packs.
- Sit in on ward rounds and team meetings – learn to work with doctors, nurses and other health workers.
Besides daily medicine work, interns learn how to count, label, store, and manage inventory. These skills are needed to become a registered pharmacist in South Africa.
