The Graduate Placement Programme is a great chance for young people who are looking to start a career in the public sector. Govan Mbeki wants to build a strong team of talent in key areas such as finance, engineering, environmental science, planning and management. By joining this programme, you will help improve the city’s infrastructure, boost good governance and support financial sustainability for the community.
Who Can Apply?
You should be a South African graduate or holder of a National Diploma, Degree or Honours degree, and currently unemployed. The programme welcomes students from these fields:

What You Need to Submit
Your application will be accepted only if all the following documents are included:
- Completed Municipal Application Form – you can download it below.
- Full CV – Show your education, work experience and skills. If you don’t have one, use the Edupstairs Simple CV Builder to create a professional CV quickly.
- Certified ID Copy – a copy of your ID that has a signature or stamp from a government office.
- Certified Copies of Qualifications – diplomas or certificates that confirm your degree or diploma.
- Results Statement – a document showing your final grades.
- Proof of Residence – a recent utility bill or similar that proves you live in the area.
- SAQA Evaluation – if your qualification is from a foreign institution, you will need an evaluation from SAQA.
Incomplete applications will not be considered, so double‑check before you send it off. Shortlisted candidates will need to bring original documents to their interview.

Monthly Stipend
