Ivanplats Miner Assistant Training Programme: 41 New Entry‑Level Jobs 2025‑26 – Kickstart Your Mining Career Today

Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the Miner Assistant Trainee vacancies.
The closing date for applications is 27 October 2025.
What the Miner Assistant Training Programme Is All About
Ivanplats is part of Ivanhoe Mines, a big name in mining.
They’re looking for 41 new trainees who want to start a career in mining.
The training will take place at their Platreef Project in Mokopane, Limpopo Province – a mine that uses the latest machines and tech to dig out platinum and other metals underground.
During the 90‑day program you’ll:
- Work in a real mine alongside experienced miners.
- Receive hands‑on training and learn how everything works on the ground.
- Get a stipend while you’re learning.
When the program ends, a job at the mine isn’t guaranteed – but if you show good performance, hard work, and a real knack for mining, there could be a place waiting for you.
Why You Might Want This
- Hands‑on experience: We’re not just asking you to read books. You’ll get to go out, break ground, and see how a modern mine operates.
- Build a solid foundation: The skills you learn here can set you up for many different roles in the mining industry later on.
- Earn while you learn: A monthly stipend keeps you paid as you gain expertise.
Minimum Requirements (and Extras That Help)
- Must have Grade 12 (Matric) or something equivalent.
- Helpful extras:
- Up to 2 years of related work experience.
- Any experience working around a mine or heavy equipment.
- Extra courses or vocational training after Grade 12.
Important Things You Need to Know
- The training lasts exactly 90 days – no extensions.
- You will need to take an LPCat Assessment if you make the shortlist.
- Only South African citizens can apply – and they’re especially interested in historically disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) and women.
- If you’re already working at Ivanplats and want a new start, apply!
- A job after training depends on your performance, how well you work, and whether the mine has a spot ready.
