Learnerships & Apprenticeships

Majuba TVET Mixed Farming Skills Programme – Apply by 04 Mar 2026

Feeling stuck with no job or bursary options? The Mixed Farming Systems Skills Programme at Majuba TVET College could change that. In partnership with AgriSETA, this two‑week intensive training is now open to unemployed youth in the Amajuba District. It’s a chance to learn hands‑on farming skills, earn a recognised certificate and open doors to future learnerships and farm jobs.

What’s on offer?

The programme delivers a National Certificate – Mixed Farming Systems (SAQA ID 48977) at NQF Level 2. Participants work 11 credits over 2 weeks at the Majuba Technology Centre Campus in Madadeni. You’ll learn crop production, soil preparation, plant care, sustainable practices, integrated farming systems and safety in the field.

Who should apply?

These criteria must be met:

  • Unemployed and not currently studying
  • Aged 18–35 years
  • Live in the Amajuba District Municipality
  • Have a Grade 11 certificate or equivalent
  • Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills

Priority is given to people with disabilities, female applicants and those from deep rural areas within Amajuba. Remember, meeting these requirements does not guarantee a spot – the selection process is competitive.

What you gain

Although there is no stipend, the programme offers:

  • Accredited 11‑credit National Certificate
  • Practical, workplace‑ready farming skills
  • Improved CV for future AgriSETA or EPWP roles
  • A stepping‑stone to longer learnerships or further qualifications

Many participants move on to farm assistant roles, community projects or start small‑scale farms after the training.

  1. Visit Majuba TVET College’s Majuba Technology Centre Campus at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Road, Section 5, Madadeni.
  2. Fill out the on‑site application form.
  3. Submit the required documents: a copy of your South African ID, a copy of your Grade 11 certificate and proof of residence.

Practical tips to improve your chances

  • Apply early to avoid last‑minute queues.
  • Prepare all documents beforehand – paper copies only.
  • Show genuine interest in agriculture during your visit; ask questions.
  • Be ready to learn – the programme is hands‑on.
  • Think of this as the first step toward a farming career, not the final goal.

Next steps

If you’re 18‑35, unemployed and eager to build a career in farming, make a copy of the required documents, head to the campus, and fill out your application before the deadline. A National Certificate from this programme can open the door to learnerships, farm jobs and even your own small farm. Don’t let the lack of a stipend scare you – the skills and recognition you’ll gain have lasting value.

Take the first step today – the next harvest of opportunities could be yours.
