Midvaal Local Municipality invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Fire Fighter Internship Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is the 24 October 2025.


What is the Fire Fighter Internship Programme?

The Midvaal Local Municipality in Meyerton, Gauteng, is looking for brave, disciplined, and passionate people who want to help save lives and property. If you finish high school (Grade 12 or equivalent) and love the idea of fighting fires, there’s a chance to join a three‑year training programme that pays you while you learn.

  • 12 spots available
  • Paid each month: R8,786.58 (about R105,439 per year)
  • The job starts after you complete the training and is a stepping‑stone to a full‑time fire‑fighter career.

Do you meet the requirements?

What will you do?

  • Daily reporting – Go to the station, meet the Station Officer, and follow tasks.
  • Equipment checks – Test and oil all fire engines and tools so they’re always ready.
  • Cleaning and maintenance – Keep gear and cars in good condition.
  • Report problems – Tell your supervisor if something isn’t working.
  • Respond to fires – Help fight grass, wildland, and building fires with the team.
  • Save lives – Perform rescue activities when a person is in danger.
  • Support the command centre – Keep communication clear, help answer phones and log incidents.
  • Other tasks – Anything else the senior staff ask you to do.

It’s hands‑on training and real‑world experience – all the skills a fire‑fighter needs.
