About Northam Platinum Limited
Northam Platinum Limited is one of South Africa’s biggest producers of platinum group metals. The company is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and is famous for:

Which Subjects Are Covered?
The bursary is available for full‑time studies in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering / Analytical Chemistry
- Finance
- Geology
There are six places in total: one each for Electrical, Mechanical, Finance, Geology and Metallurgical/Analytical Chemistry, and two for Mining Engineering.
How Will Candidates Be Chosen?
- Matric students are selected based on their final high‑school results.
- Northam follows an Employment Equity Policy. Students from the priority communities and from previously disadvantaged groups may get priority.
- Only people who make it to the shortlist will be notified. If you haven’t heard back within three weeks after the closing date, your application was not successful.
Who Is Eligible?
General rules
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You can be still in Matric or have finished it.
- You must plan to study or already be studying at a recognised South African university or college.
- You should be hardworking, motivated and committed to doing well in school.
- Residents of Mashishing, Roossenekal or Steelpoort are given priority.
