About Renergen
Renergen is a South African energy company that focuses on clean, innovative fuels. They made history with their Virginia Gas Project, turning natural gas into liquid fuel (LNG) and even liquid helium. Their work touches on sustainability, new tech and local talent development.
Why This Internship Is a Big Deal
South Africa is pushing hard into gas, renewables and greener fuels, but students often miss real plant work. This two‑year program gives you:
- Real plant experience – learn how a real gas plant runs.
- Hands‑on training – no prior plant job required; Renergen trains you.
- Rotation – move between different production jobs so you see the whole picture.
- Local focus – if you live in the Free State, you can stay close to home.
- Mentors – senior engineers and technicians guide you through every step.
Most internships last a year, but this one is two years long, giving you plenty of time to build confidence and deep technical knowledge.
What You’ll Do
Typical tasks at a gas and energy plant include:
- Watching production steps and keeping records.
- Checking safety rules and equipment.

- Plant operations and production
- Process control
