What is this job?

SANParks is South Africa’s national park manager. They want young people like you to help protect nature.
The job is part of the EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme). It gives you a paid role that:

  • stops unemployment for the youth
  • gives you real work skills
  • keeps wildlife and forests safe

You’ll be a park helper, checking plants and animals, cleaning up, and making sure everything runs smoothly.


Who can apply?

  • You must have finished school (Grade 12).
  • English is a must; speaking another South‑African language is a bonus.
  • You should like to help people and the environment.
  • If you’ve worked in a hostel, dorm, or school for 1‑2 years that’s good.
  • You can work long hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • You should be ready to do extra tasks when needed.

Only people living in Thabazimbi can apply.


What you’ll do every day

  • Keep the Thutong Environmental Learning Centre tidy: kitchen, dining room, dorms, hall, bathrooms, and open areas.
  • Organise and clean all pantry items.
  • Follow safety and hygiene rules set by SANParks.
  • Handle laundry.
  • Report any problems to your supervisor.
  • Manage cleaning supplies and other consumables.
  • Help with park projects and activities when asked.
  • Make sure visitors and staff feel welcome and get good service.
