About SASSA

SASSA is the agency that gives millions of South Africans essential social grants – for children, disabled people, seniors, foster families and more. The agency’s work helps keep poverty down and ensures that people who need money for living can get it.

If you want a job that gives you a steady paycheck, a sense of purpose, and a chance to grow with the government, a Grants Administrator role is a great start.

What the Job Looks Like

A Grants Administrator keeps the grant system running smoothly. Your main tasks include:

  • Helping people apply – guide applicants through forms and explain which grant they can get.
  • Checking and entering data – put information into SASSA’s computer system and confirm all documents are in order.
  • Scheduling medical checks – for disability grants, book appointments for required exams.
  • Visiting communities – bring services to rural areas or community halls when needed.
  • Scanning and filing – organise paper and digital records so they’re easy to find later.

You’ll need to be patient, accurate and respectful, especially when dealing with vulnerable clients. Knowing the Batho Pele principles (good service for all) helps a lot.
