Baxter Theatre Centre is looking for 15 energetic and friendly people to join our Front of House team. Each usher gets to meet new people, guide them to their seats, and keep the show running smoothly and safely.
What We Need From You
| Requirement | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Grade 12 Certificate | You must have finished high school or a similar qualification. |
| Friendly Demeanor | Smile, say hello, and talk politely to everyone you meet. |
| Good English + another official language | You should speak and understand at least two languages well. |
| Team & Solo Skills | Work well with teammates and also be able to handle tasks on your own. |
| Quick Thinking | If something unexpected happens, you should respond fast and stay calm. |
| Customer‑First Attitude | Think about what the audience wants and give them great service. |
| Flexible Hours | Be willing to work evening shows and weekends, when the theatre is open. |
Things That Help
- Prior experience in hospitality or a theatre setting is a plus, but not required.
Your Day‑to‑Day Tasks
- Scan tickets to let patrons into the house quickly.
- Guide people to seats and help them find the right rows.
- Show people where the bar, restaurants, and toilets are.
- Assist guests with special needs whenever needed.
- Solve seating disputes and answer any questions.
- Help guests find exits in case of an emergency.
You’ll be the friendly face that makes every visitor’s experience smooth and enjoyable.
Pay & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: R50.91.
- No overtime or shift premiums are included in the base rate, but your hard work ensures you’re paid fairly.
- The role is part‑time, which means you can manage it around school or other commitments.
