
CETA invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Lecturer Bursary Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 17 November 2025.
Why CETA is Offering Bursaries
CETA – the Construction Education and Training Authority – wants lecturers in South Africa to gain higher qualifications.
The goal is to give teachers in construction, engineering and the built environment the skills they need to train the next generation of professionals.
Starting with the 2026 academic year, CETA will fund postgraduate and advanced studies for:
- 30 TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) lecturers
- 20 CET (Community Education and Training) lecturers
What Topics Can You Study?
CETA will pay for courses that build on your teaching work. These are the main areas they’re looking at:
- Advanced Diploma or Honours Degree in Education – focus on Construction, Engineering or Built Environment (Level 7 or higher).
- STEM‑related studies – advanced work in Construction, Built Environment, or a related science, engineering or technology field.
- Priorities – Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management and other key disciplines.
Who Can Apply?

| Job Title | Lecturer at a TVET or CET college registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the Council on Higher Education (CHE). |
| Field Preference | Those teaching STEM or Built Environment subjects get priority. |
| Citizenship | South African citizen or naturalised permanent resident. |
| Age | You should have enough time to finish the program before retirement. |
| Enrollment | Must already be accepted or enrolled in a 2026 study program. |

- Proof of your current job at a registered TVET or CET college.
- A certified copy of a valid South African ID (no older than 6 months).
- Proof of your acceptance or registration at a recognized higher‑education institution.
- Your latest academic transcript.
- Proof of your residential address.
