The City of Joburg is looking for bright, motivated applicants to join its Integrated Planning, Policy & Research (IPPR) Internship Programme. Submit your application before 12 November 2025 to secure your spot.
What’s the Internship About?
The IPPR Internship lets you dive into the world of public policy, planning, and research. You’ll work side‑by‑side with the Community Development Department, helping to shape city policies and track how well they work. Think of it as a hands‑on chance to learn real‑world skills while making a difference in Johannesburg.
Remuneration
- Monthly pay: R10 109.86 (basic salary – no extra benefits).

- Region: C (Central Johannesburg).
Do You Qualify?

What You’ll Do
- Research & Analysis – Study policy documents, laws and strategic plans to understand their impact.
- Data Handling – Gather, check and analyse performance data for city reports.
- Planning Support – Help draft business plans and verify scorecard results for departments and the city.
- Stakeholder Coordination – Organise meetings, collect input and prepare summaries for policy reviews.
- Admin & Record‑Keeping – Keep the IPPR department running smoothly by managing files and ensuring compliance.
Key Skills You’ll Gain
- Data Tools – Master MS Excel and Power BI (or similar) for visualising data.
- Writing – Produce clear research reports and policy briefs.
- Communication – Present findings orally and write confidently.
- Organisation – Keep track of multiple tasks, deadlines and documents.
- Critical Thinking – Pay attention to details and reason through problems.
- Ethics – Apply Batho Pele principles and maintain professional integrity.
