Seriti Learnership 2026 – Diesel Mechanic or Auto Electrician (21 July)

For young South Africans who want a stable career in engineering, the Seriti Engineering Learnership Programme 18.2 External Intake 2026 is opening a limited number of spots right now – the deadline is 21 July 2026.

What the opportunity is

Seriti, through its New Vaal Colliery in the Free State, is offering an 18‑month learnership that blends classroom theory with hands‑on work. You will train as a qualified artisan in either the Diesel Mechanic or Auto Electrician trade, while earning a recognised Section 18.2 qualification.

Who can apply

The programme targets entry‑level candidates, especially those from the New Vaal Colliery host communities. You must meet one of the following academic routes:

  • Grade 12 route: Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy), Physical Science, a minimum E (40 %) and two N2‑level trade subjects.
  • N2 route: Minimum N2 qualification that includes four relevant trade subjects.

Specific trade‑related subjects are:

  • Diesel Mechanic: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Diesel Trade Theory, Motor Trade Theory.
  • Auto Electrician: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Trade Theory.

Additional requirements:

  • At least 40 % in all required subjects.
  • Valid K53 driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to work shifts, be on standby and respond to call‑outs.
  • Ability to pass psychometric assessments.
  • Certificate of Fitness (to be obtained).
  • No criminal record.

Preference will be given to applicants who can prove they live in the New Vaal Colliery host communities.
