Kickstart Your Mining Career with Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore’s 2025‑26 Learnership Programme – Enroll Now!

Anglo American invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Engineering Learnership Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is 31 October 2025.
What the Programme Looks Like
If you’re 18‑35 years old, currently out of work and want to learn a real job in mining, this is for you. The Engineering Learnership runs for about three and a half years, during which you’ll get hands‑on training on the job at Kumba Iron Ore’s Kolomela and Sishen sites. You’ll also attend classroom lessons and earn recognised certificates that are useful for future jobs in the mining and engineering world.
Who Can Join?
To apply, make sure you meet these simple checks:
• A South African citizen with a valid ID
• Between 18 and 35 years old
• Hold a driver’s licence
• Unemployed at the time of application
• Able to prove where you live (a utility bill or similar)
• Pass a basic fitness test and a Workplace Safety check
You’ll also need to check your high‑school marks. For most trades (Electrical, Fitter, Boilermaker, Rigger) you should have around 40 % in Maths and 40 % in Science. Certain jobs also need a specific subject mark, like Maths, Science, and either Engineering Drawing or Structural Drawing.
If you’re wondering about other learning paths, you might want to look at our partners’ pages: read about the SETÁ Learnerships 2025 to see the full list of skills courses or explore the Learnerships for Matriculants if you’re just finishing high school.
Why This Matters
This isn’t just a training camp. It’s a stepping‑stone that can lead to a paid, permanent role in engineering, maintenance, or plant operations. The experience you gain here can help you stand out when big companies hunt for talent, and it gives you a chance to help shape South Africa’s mining future.
If you’ve spotted a program that fits your goals but have no college degree yet, you might want to check out the Top SETÁ Learnerships page for options that won’t require a matric. Many of these learnerships offer a chance to learn on the job and get paid while you train.
