Who can apply

You must meet all of the following criteria:

  • South African citizen
  • Currently enrolled in Grade 12
  • Attending a designated school on the West Coast
  • Planning to study at a South African public tertiary institution
  • Applying for an approved 3‑year or 4‑year degree programme (NQF Level 6 qualifications, technical training and national diplomas are also considered)
  • Household income does not exceed R350 000 per year

Applications for private colleges are not accepted.

What the bursary covers

The amount is decided per student, based on need. Typical expenses that may be paid include:

  • Accommodation: university residence or approved off‑campus housing
