What Is the De Beers Group Engineering Learnership Programme?

This learnership is a partnership between De Beers Group’s Venetia Mine in Musina, Limpopo, and an accredited training centre in Randfontein. It is a QCTO‑approved Occupational Qualification learnership that will give you a recognised certificate and real work experience in one of South Africa’s leading mining operations.

There are nine seats for unemployed youth from Blouberg and Musina (Section 18.2) and one seat for existing Venetia Mine employees (Section 18.1). The training lasts around four years and covers a range of artisan engineering trades.

Who Should Apply?

To qualify, you need one of the following:

  1. Grade 12 with Mathematics, Physical Science, English and a minimum of 40% in all subjects.
  2. Relevant N2 Engineering qualification.
  3. NCV Level 3 with Mathematics, engineering subjects and a 40% pass.

Additional conditions:

  • Can travel to Randfontein for training.
  • Willing to work at Venetia Mine.
  • Must secure a Red Ticket medical fitness certificate.
  • Must pass a SAPS criminal background check, psychometric and technical assessments.
  • Must provide proof of residence.

Applicants from Musina or Blouberg must submit a letter from the municipality or tribal council on official letterhead, dated within the last three months.
