What is the YES Learner Programme?
Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (Pty) Ltd is the company behind popular tyre brands like Dunlop, Falken, and Sumitomo Tyres. They are offering a 12‑month learning and work experience programme called the YES Learner Programme. This is part of the national Youth Employment Service (YES), a program that gives young people in South Africa real job skills and a chance to start a career.
Where will you learn?
- Durban Head Office – the main office in Durban where you’ll meet the team and learn the basics of the business.
- Ladysmith Manufacturing Plant – the factory where tyres are built and tested.

If you have a certificate or diploma in one of the following areas, you can apply:
- Marketing or Public Management
- Automotive, Mechanical or related technical fields
- Finance
- Business Management
- Administration
- Information Technology (IT)
- Environmental Health & Safety
- Supply Chain
- Human Resources (HR)
- Quality Control
These options let you get hands‑on experience that matches your studies.
Who can apply?
To be considered, you must:
- Be a South African youth who is currently unemployed.
- Be no older than 34 years.
- Ideally have little or no previous work experience.
- Not have taken part in the YES programme before.
