What is the Glencore Coal South Africa Graduate Development Programme?

Glencore Coal South Africa, one of the biggest coal companies in South Africa, is looking for fresh graduates ready to start a career in mining. The programme runs for 36 months and is based in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. It gives you hands‑on experience in every part of a coal mine, from drilling and blasting to transport and safety.

Why Join This Programme?

  • Learn from the Best – You’ll work with experienced engineers and managers who will guide you every step of the way.
  • Get Rotated Experience – Over the year you’ll move between different parts of the mine. This means you’ll see how the whole operation works, not just one piece.
  • Train Your Skills – Apart from everyday work you’ll attend workshops, coaching sessions, and short courses to sharpen both technical and leadership skills.
  • Build Confidence – By the end of the programme you’ll be ready for a steady mining job and will know what’s expected in your industry.

What You’ll Do

During the 36‑month contract you’ll:

  1. Rotate through at least three main areas of the mine
  2. Complete practical assignments and real‑world projects
  3. Attend workshops on mining safety, equipment handling and teamwork
  4. Receive regular feedback from mentors
  5. Finish a final project that demonstrates your learning
