PUTCO 2026 Graduate Internship: 24 Transport Jobs, R6,500/month 08 Apr
Grab your chance to jumpstart your career in one of South Africa’s fastest‑growing industries. The SETAs have partnered with PUTCO to launch 24 new Graduate Internship roles for 2026. If you’re a recent diploma or degree holder who is still looking for that first professional experience, this is a path you can’t afford to miss.
What is the PUTCO Graduate Internship Programme?
The programme is a 24‑month, fully paid internship that lets you work across five key departments: Operations & Traffic, Accounts, Human Resources, Technical Engineering, and Procurement/Stores. You’ll move through different sites – Soweto, Pretoria, Linbro Park, and the Head Office – gaining real‑world exposure and a steady stipend.
Who can apply?
To qualify you must meet all of these criteria:
- Completed a National Diploma, Degree, or TVET Diploma – it can be from a university, public university, or TVET college.
- Must already hold the qualification; you cannot be studying.
- Must be under 35 years old.
- Must be unemployed at the time of application.
- Must have a Grade 12 certificate.
- Must be in good health.
Applications close on 8 April 2026. Remember to submit early – many applicants feel they are “racing the clock.”
What you’ll gain
Beyond the monthly R6,500 stipend, the internship offers:
- Hands‑on work in transport operations, finance, HR, engineering, or supply chain.
- 15 days of annual leave each year.
- Two years of structured workplace learning – longer than the standard 12‑month programme.
- Networking opportunities with industry professionals.
- A solid reference that can boost your future job prospects.
How to apply – step by step
- Prepare your documents:
- Updated CV (highlight your qualification and any work experience).
- Certified copy of your ID.
- Certified copy of your qualification certificate.
- Academic transcript (if you have it).
- Proof of residence (may be requested later).
- Driver’s licence (if applicable to your chosen department).
- Write a brief email. Use the subject line: PUTCO Graduate Internship Application 2026. This helps the recruiters find your email quickly.
- Attach your CV and qualification copy. Do NOT send originals.
- Send to internship@putco.co.za.
- Keep an eye on your inbox for a shortlisting notice – only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Practical tips to boost your chances
- Apply well before the deadline – the earlier the better.
- Tailor your CV to the department you want. Highlight the skills most relevant to that role.
- Show computer literacy – most departments use office software and transport‑specific systems.
- If you hold a driver’s licence, mention it – many departments value this skill.
- Use a clear email subject line and keep the body concise.
Why this matters for you
From experience, most graduates feel stuck in the “unemployed” status after finishing school. A 24‑month internship with a reputable transport company can change that. You’ll earn a stipend, build a portfolio of real projects, and learn how large logistics organisations operate. Even if you don’t land a permanent role afterward, the experience is a powerful résumé booster.
