Rand Water Graduate Internship Opportunities 2025-2027 | Apply Now

Rand Water invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Experiential Training Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is the 30 October 2025.
If you are a South African youth, love science and want real‑world work experience, this could be your next step.


Why Rand Water wants you

  • Hands‑on learning – Practice the same techniques that scientists use in labs and water treatment plants.
  • Build a résumé – A recognised training place that can help you find future jobs in biotechnology, microbiology, environmental science or analytical chemistry.
  • Pay and support – You’ll earn a stipend while you learn, and you’ll be trained by experts.

Who can apply?

  • You have finished high school (matric).
  • You are 35 or younger.
  • You have not yet completed a National Diploma in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences or Analytical Chemistry, but you have the first two years of the theoretical studies.
  • You are a South African citizen with a valid ID.

These rules match the National Skills Development Strategy.


What you’ll do in the Programme

  1. Learn ISO 17025 basics – The standard that keeps lab work accurate.
  2. Take water samples – Check water quality at Rand Water sites.
  3. Prepare testing kits – Make media, chemicals, reagents and samples ready for analysis.
  4. Run tests – Analyse samples and record your findings.
  5. Check results – Log data into the company’s databases.
  6. Keep equipment tidy – Perform routine checks and maintenance on instruments and test kits.
  7. Follow safety rules – Practice good housekeeping and safety practices (SHE).

You’ll need to send the following documents together in one package (if anything is missing, your application won’t be considered):

  • Application letter & CV – Tell them about yourself and why you want to join.
  • Recommendation letter – From your tertiary institution confirming that you need the remaining coursework at Rand Water.
  • Certified copy of your ID – To prove your identity.
  • Certified copy of your training records – Include transcripts and diplomas.
