Rand Water invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Experiential Training Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is the 30 October 2025.

Why Rand Water wants you

Who can apply?

  • You have finished high school (matric).
  • You are 35 or younger.
  • You have not yet completed a National Diploma in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences or Analytical Chemistry, but you have the first two years of the theoretical studies.
  • You are a South African citizen with a valid ID.

These rules match the National Skills Development Strategy.


What you’ll do in the Programme

  1. Learn ISO 17025 basics – The standard that keeps lab work accurate.
  2. Take water samples – Check water quality at Rand Water sites.
  3. Prepare testing kits – Make media, chemicals, reagents and samples ready for analysis.
  4. Run tests – Analyse samples and record your findings.
  5. Check results – Log data into the company’s databases.
  6. Keep equipment tidy – Perform routine checks and maintenance on instruments and test kits.
  7. Follow safety rules – Practice good housekeeping and safety practices (SHE).

  • Recommendation letter – From your tertiary institution confirming that you need the remaining coursework at Rand Water.
