Sedibeng EPWP Phase V 2026/27 General Worker – Apply by 07 Aug

The Sedibeng District Municipality has just opened applications for its Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) Phase V 2026/2027, and the deadline is only a few weeks away.

What the opportunity is

The EPWP Phase V offers temporary work for unemployed residents of the Sedibeng district. It lasts eight months and pays a daily stipend of R140. You will be employed as a General Worker in waste‑management or infrastructure‑maintenance tasks.

Who can apply (eligibility)

  • Unemployed South African citizens living in the Sedibeng District.
  • No formal education, age or previous work experience is required.
  • Required documents: a CV, a certified copy of your ID, a bank confirmation letter, and a SARS reference letter.

The municipality aims to give 55 % of the posts to women, 40 % to youth and 2 % to people with disabilities, but these ratios do not affect your eligibility.

What you gain

  • R140 per working day (about 16 days a month, roughly four days a week).
  • Eight months of paid work experience.
  • Practical skills in cleaning public spaces and maintaining municipal infrastructure.
  • A reference that can help you secure future learnerships, internships or permanent jobs.

How to apply – step by step

  1. Prepare a simple CV that lists your personal details, education, any volunteering or community work, and skills.
  2. Get a certified copy of your South African ID from the SAPS, a Commissioner of Oaths or an authorised post‑office.
  3. Ask your bank for a bank‑confirmation letter (this is not a bank statement).
  4. Visit a SARS branch or use e‑SARS to obtain a reference letter confirming your tax reference number.
  5. Print all four documents and place them together in a neat folder.
  6. Hand‑deliver the folder to the Sedibeng District Municipality, Ground Floor, Main Building, Corner Leslie & Beaconsfield Avenue, Vereeniging.
  7. Make sure it arrives before the closing date: 07 August 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.

  • Keep your CV clear and free of graphics. Include full name, contact number, address, education, and any community involvement.
  • Double‑check that every required document is inside your folder before you leave the house.
  • Dress neatly when you deliver your application – it shows you are serious.
  • Make a copy of the entire application for your own records.

Next steps

If you meet the eligibility criteria, follow the steps above and submit your complete application before 07 August 2026. Even if this role does not lead to a permanent position, the experience and reference you gain can help you in future job searches, learnerships or bursaries.
