Who can apply – eligibility
You can apply if you meet one of the following routes:
- Matric or Technical Matric – you must have Mathematics, Physical Science and English, with at least 40 % in each. (Mathematical Literacy does not count.)
- N2 or higher – you need an N2 certificate (or higher) that includes the subjects required for your chosen trade.
- NCV Level 4 – any NCV trade qualification that passes the required subjects with at least 40 %.
The programme is aimed at unemployed South Africans. Preference will be given to applicants from the host‑community, so be ready to provide proof of residence if you live nearby.

- Precious Metals Refinery (PMR) – 4: 1 Fitter, 1 Boilermaker, 1 Electrician, 1 Instrument Mechanician.
- Base Metals Refinery (BMR) – 5: 2 Fitters, 1 Boilermaker, 1 Electrician, 1 Millwright.
- Convertor Plant (CP) – 3: 1 Fitter, 1 Boilermaker, 1 Electrician.
- Waterval Smelters (WVS) – 4: 1 Fitter, 1 Boilermaker, 1 Rigger, 1 Electrician.
